The two residential programs operated by KHI Services, Inc. serve youth,
between the ages of 14 and 18,
who have a desire to change the behaviors that got them into trouble
with the state legal system. The youth's parents must also be
willing to dedicate a portion of their time to assist in the changes
that are needed in order for the youth to turn their lives around.
Dedicated staff work with each youth to develop the skills
necessary to be successful when they return to their homes, or move
on to their next living situation. Most graduates of our programs
return to live in their family homes, but some are ready to move on
to independent living, or semi-independent living situations. Those
who do not complete the program may find that skills learned will be remembered later in life, when
they are better prepared to address the issues that brought them to
us in the first place.
The programs are designed as 6-9 month intensive treatment
opportunities. Some youth may stay longer if the treatment team
believes a few extra weeks will best serve the youth’s opportunity
for success.
Families have the opportunity to participate in many activities with
their sons. Once a week the families meet in a multi-family group to
discuss joint issues and to benefit from the discussion topics
presented by one of the therapists. Families also meet weekly with
their assigned therapist and their child to discuss specific issue
the family needs to be addressed.
The programs are therapeutically intensive with daily Positive Peer Culture and/or
EQUIP meetings, other counseling groups in addition to the mandated
school schedule, recreation and life skills training programs.
